1. a boast (Pind.): II Co 5:129:3 (Thayer, s.v.; e. contra, 2, Ellic., Lft., on Ga 6:4; Lft., Notes, 204, 277).
2. ground or matter of glorying: Ro 4:2, I Co 5:69:15, 16, II Co 1:14, Ga 6:4, Phl 1:262:16, He 3:6 (cf. καύχησις).†
