1. = Att.. ἀποκρίνομαι (q.v.), to answer, reply (Hom., Hdt., al.).
2. to answer on the stage, play a part (Arist., al.). Metaph., to feign, pretend (Demos., Polyb.): c. acc et inf., Lk 20:20 (cf. Ps Sol 4:22).†
