ὑπο-κριτής, -οῦ, ὁ

1. one who answers, an interpreter (Plat.).

2. a stage player, actor (Plut., Xen., al.). Metaph. (in LXX and NT), a pretender, dissembler, hypocrite: Mt 6:2, 5, 167:515:722:1823:13-1524:51, Mk 7:6Lk 6:4212:5613:15.†
