rid, rid'-ans: "Rid" originally meant "rescue" (the King James VersionGe 37:22;Ex 6:6;Ps 82:4;144:7,11), whence the meaning "remove" or "clean out" (Le 26:6the King James Version, with "riddance" inLe 23:22;Ze 1:18). The word occurs in the American Standard Revised Version and in the English Revised Version inEx 6:6.
