‖Am″pho‐ra (�), n.; pl.Amophoræ (�). [L., fr. Gr. �, �, a jar with two handles; � + � bearer, � to bear. Cf. Ampul.] Among the ancients, a two-handled vessel, tapering at the bottom, used for holding wine, oil, etc.
