Chive (?), n. [F. cive, fr. L. cepa, caepa, onion. Cf. Cives, Cibol.] (Bot.) A perennial plant (Allium Schœnoprasum), allied to the onion. The young leaves are used in omelets, etc. [Written also cive.]
