‖O′ö‐go″ni‐um (?), n.; pl. L. Oögonia (#), E. Oögoniums (#). [NL., fr. Gr. ῳὄν an egg + � offspring.] (Bot.) A special cell in certain cryptogamous plants containing oöspheres, as in the rockweeds (Fucus), and the orders Vaucherieæ and Peronosporeæ.
