‖Xiph″i‐us (?), n. [NL., fr. Gr. ξίφοσ a sword.] (Zoöl.) A genus of cetaceans having a long, pointed, bony beak, usually two tusklike teeth in the lower jaw, but no teeth in the upper jaw.
