to look in the face, look straight at (Polyb.). Metaph., to face, withstand (Wi 12:14, Polyb.): c. dat., ἀ. τ. ἀνέμῳ, as nautical term, to beat up against the wind (v. DB, ext., 366 f.; MM, VGT, s.v.): Ac 27:15.†
